SYLPHS; or, ANGEL HUMANS

Hi and thanks for visiting,

I’m seeking representation for SYLPHS; or, ANGEL HUMANS, a fantasy/ paranormal trilogy of about 99,000 words. The trilogy opens with a novelette that introduces the archangel and his beloved.

 *Warning: Adult content.

Book One: The Sylph's Tale, about 16,000 words.

In prehistoric times, a virgin escaping rape runs into an Archangel's earthly paradise. He is commanded,  "Take your Eve" but damned to be a being without a soul. From their immortal love, rises a world of angel humans.

Book Two: Virgins,  about 44,000 words.

From caves to castles: In 1841, seduced by voices just like Haya’s, Ayekah finds other virgins. From them - in the Middle East, Europe, and America - are born five generations of twins. One is fertile the other is the watcher. The women are strong and wise, have extraordinary lives ruled by traditions and rituals, passed and upheld by the oldest, keep them trapped in secrets.
Ayekah, like a master puppeteer, rules their destiny.

Book Three: ROLO, about, 40,000 words.

A New World unfolds. Not from the heart of religious prophecy but the mind of technology. An event once holy will be seen as evil. Ray, a Genetic Scientist, battles with right and wrong while developing a study that brings ROLO, a cybernetic clone, to life. Ary, a Parapsychologist, foresees that Ray’s plan can drive humankind to extinction and feels compelled to stop her. As the head of Tardell Corporation, Sigrid Liera (Sig) makes Ray and himself a living part of ROLO. But Ray and Rolo's disappearance under the raging waters of Hurricane Mitch starts a spiral that will change humanity.

Just read: At War in the Garden of Eden by BY JENNIFER PERCY

As posted on my VIRGINS page: At War in the Garden of Eden by JENNIFER PERCY, is one of the stories assigned for reading on my Power of the Pen: Identities and Social Issues in Fiction and Nonfiction, class. An amazing, gut-gripping story. Percy's writing is fresh and packed with vivid detail. Without a lot of tedious nuances and explanations, Percy takes the reader right into the tale. Wow. I'm tempted to quote some passages but won't because the entire story deserves attention. I read a lot of stories published in award-winning magazines and sites but Oh my God, I want
to write like Jennifer Percy.

Do you read when writing?

This article: "How does what you read affect your writing, " by Laura Moss, quotes Stephen King, "If you don't have time to read, you don't have the time (or the tools) to write. Simple as that," memoir, "On Writing."

When writing new work I don't read because the story comes in a stream from my subconscious and all my senses are involved. Virgins came to me over several months and after overcoming weeks of fear and terror I would get up at night and write. After I sense that my subconscious is tapped or I have completed initial writing I read, research and read to learn about the visions or apparitions that have come to me.

With Virgins I had to do months of research and reading after the initial months of visions, apparitions and in fear of what I was seeing, feeling: all my senses on alert and involved. I even saw a therapist, called my best friend repeatedly, went overnight where my husband was staying when working out of town, sought help from my priest and got psychic readings, very scary readings, thought I was going nuts. Stuff I couldn't explain kept happening around me. My writing became so compulsive I wrote until the wee hours but was able to function during the day as if pumped up by adrenaline.

In the months and years that followed, I read all I could find online about the places, apparitions, ideas and to look and verify what seemed facts and most of them to my dread, where facts even the times before I was even born in this life. I started attending a writing group that went on for 5 years.

I wrote other stuff after awhile but the story of the Sylph kept me engrossed. Two years ago my husband and I went to Europe, of the two weeks we spent several days in Lalin Spain, a city near the Pontevedra Coast, where a lot of the book takes place. The experience felt supernatural to both of us.

Also, writing to me is a true labor of love, I have to edit and have others edit for me a lot because I was dyslexic and in my days as a youth that was not diagnosed correctly. English is not my birth language. I came to the U. S. when I was about nine, the first time. Also in college and in my occupation I had to read and write a lot. Like on this article, I check it myself with spell check and Grammarly and pass it by my husband to ensure it's not riddled with errors.

VIRGINS

About Virgins: Before recorded time, a girl escaping her clansmen runs into an Archangel's earthly Paradise, the highest angel sent to oversee evolution. The Archangel is commanded: “Take your Eve” but is damned to be a Sylph for eternity. Their names become AYEKAH (the almighty's lament: "What have you done.") and HAYA (Eve).  After Haya dies, Ayekah is in and out of her crypt for centuries and when other angels procreate with humans the Almighty tries to destroy the world.
In 1841 Ayekah hears voices that lead him to girls that look like Haya. From them, Ayekah has seven generations of twin daughters, one fertile the other the guide. Ayekah's angel-humans are divas trapped in a web of conflict that is at times terrifying. Ayekah protects them with The Retais, a world power, until all starts to unravel.
GERONA, Ayekah's sixth descendant, wants to defeat Ayekah, "You are damned, what you have done is evil."  SIG LIERA, protector of The Retais, plots Ayekah's destruction. Ray, one of the last twins, immersed in a research project in the jungles of Central America, refuses to heed the horror around her. While her sister Ary, besieged by nightmares, seeks help from Alex, Ray's lover, and falls in love. Just as Ray's specimen - ROLO - is about to attain sentience, Ray and ROLO disappear into the waters of a hurricane.

Share before publishing

This article [SWP: BEHIND THE BOOK]: SHELTER US, PART 2 Posted BY LAURA NICOLE DIAMOND on She Writes grabbed my attention. Laura tells how she shared her book Shelter Us before she published.
I have shared the coming out of VIRGINS, my paranormal breakthrough novel, and the first in my ROLO series, for several months. I am still working on edits after I sent it yet another editor and friend I really trust.
Once done, I think I will download the first few chapters, about 30 pages into a PDF, and offer them for free. To those that read them and send me a review, I will provide the rest of the book on a PDF for free.

Soon I will be posting form Europe!

I will not be posting daily as usual; I am busy editing and submitting some writing in addition to preparing for a month in Europe!
Thanks to the encouragement and support from our kids we will be traveling to Europe in October and returning in November. I will have iPad and iPhone and intend to write about our travels. Some places we will visit we didn't even know existed until writing VIRGINS took us there.
VIRGINS is an Urban Fantasy and a bit Paranormal Romance. Here I am proud to post the link to a news release about VIRGINS published by the Wildwood Literary Review, and  encourage you to enjoy the wonderful writers featured in the WLR
